GDP Grows Slightly, Dragged Down by Industry and Agriculture

The volume of Hungary’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2025 exceeded the same period of the previous year by 0.6 percent, based on both raw and seasonally, calendar-adjusted figures.

Compared to the previous quarter, the performance of the economy stagnated, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Thursday in its first estimate.

In the first three quarters, the performance of the economy exceeded the same period of the previous year by 0.3 percent according to raw data, and by 0.2 percent based on seasonally, calendar-adjusted balanced data.

The GDP growth was mainly supported by services, within which the performance of the information and communication sector contributed the most. Industry and agriculture restrained the performance of the economy,

KSH reported.

While the Ministry for National Economy had earlier projected 1 percent annual GDP growth for 2025, the current modest increase suggests that reaching this target will depend on stronger performance in the final quarter. Given the drag from industry and agriculture, as well as external factors (such as Germany’s underperforming manufacturing sector), achieving the Ministry’s forecast remains uncertain.
