German Culture Exchange Festival Opens in Metropolitan Library

Nationwide, approximately 190 institutions are participating in the Wunderbar Festival‘s program series, offering more than 220 events until April 5.

This is the fourth time the Wunderbar Festival is being held in Hungary, under the motto “German. One language – many stories”, to highlight the diversity and importance of the German language in the fields of economy, culture, and education, reported the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library.

The festival includes library children’s programs, university adventure tours, visits to German-language institutions, German-language city tours, exhibitions, and theater performances for interested participants.

The event offers a variety of opportunities, from literary readings and film screenings to workshops and round-table discussions, to explore and discover the German language from different perspectives. Across the country, about 30 locations will feature surprise flash mobs, where participants will aim to draw attention to the importance of the German language.

The opening event of the Wunderbar Festival is held on Tuesday, April 1, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library. During the event, among other things, a discussion titled “What and how does the youth read?” will take place.

The event’s official website states that the German, Austrian, and Swiss Embassies, the Goethe-Institut, the Austrian Cultural Forum, as well as institutions representing German language teaching and German-language education and higher education, such as the DAAD, ZfA, the Hagen University Budapest Center, Andrássy University, the Austrian Institute, and the National Self-Government of Germans in Hungary will be among the organizations making the festival happen.
