Government Launches New Home Support Program for Public Service Workers

The government has decided to launch a new home support program for public service employees: from now on, they will receive one million forints (2,560 euros) in support per year, the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Monday on the government’s Facebook page.

In a video shared on the government’s social media page, Balázs Hidvéghi said that “support will be provided to doctors who heal, nurses who care, police officers who protect us, teachers who teach and educate, soldiers who defend us, and all public service workers without whom the country would not function”.

He emphasized that the Hungarian government is committed to helping as many Hungarian families as possible to buy their own homes, which is why they launched the CSOK Plus program, similarly the fixed 3% mortgage, and now this new program to support public service workers.

He explained that the annual net home subsidy of one million forints can be used in two ways: either to repay an existing mortgage or to pay the down payment on a new mortgage. If the spouse or partner also works in the public service, both can apply for the subsidy, he added, noting that the program will start on January 1, 2026, and details can be obtained from the employer.

“This support is a thank you to all those who work for the community every day in their profession. Thank you!” said Balázs Hidvéghi.
