The year 2026 will bring a favorable change for motorists. The annual motorway vignette price will decrease significantly in several counties, new toll sections will be added to the system, and installment payments will also be available, thus many people can save tens of thousands of forints compared to last year’s fees.
The annual motorway vignette can be purchased at half price or even cheaper in five counties, but 2026 will also bring other changes to motorway use. There are new toll sections and new categories, and we can save up to 15,000 forints (13 euros; 1 euro = 385 forints) compared to 2025, and the 61,760 forints annual national vignette is finally available in installments and as a package, confirmed the announcement of Autópálya Matrica.
This year, three new road sections will become toll sections in Pest, Baranya, and Bács-Kiskun counties: the section of the M6 between Bátaszék and the national border (Ivándárda), and the section of the M44 between the Kecskemét-Észak-Lajosmizse junction and the Szentkirályi and Tiszaug-Tiszakürt junctions.
It will also be much cheaper to purchase an annual vignette in five counties due to traffic restrictions affecting the M1 and the former M30.
Due to the renovation and widening of the M1, which began in the fall and will continue for several years, the vignette will cost only 15,000 forints in the four counties affected (Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom, Győr-Moson-Sopron), the vignette will cost only 15,000 forints, meaning that motorists will be able to use the motorway at approximately half the price compared to 2025.
The section of the M30 motorway between Miskolc North and Szikszó, which was closed in February 2024, was opened to traffic on December 30; as compensation, the vignette for Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County will cost only 2,500 forints.
In 2026, it will still be possible to claim exemptions or discounts for certain vehicle types and situations.
People with reduced mobility and large families may be eligible for partial exemption and can purchase a D1 vignette instead of a D2 vignette if they have applied for it in advance.
The price of standard motorway vignettes has risen in line with inflation.
The vignette used by most motorists, category D1 (passenger cars, motorcycles, trailers), will be available at the following prices:
daily vignette: 5,550 forints
10-day vignette: 6,910 forints
monthly vignette: 11,170 forints
annual national vignette: 61,760 forints
annual county vignette: 7,190 forints
