Hungary Is Ready to Cooperate with Romania’s New Government

Hungary is ready to work together with Romania’s new government, as our country is even more interested in stable, respectful, and mutually beneficial cooperation with its neighbor during this dangerous time, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
The Minister reported that a new government had been formed in Bucharest the previous day with the participation of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ).
I have just congratulated my friend Hunor Kelemen, president of the RMDSZ, by telephone. We agreed that the interests of the Hungarian community in Transylvania are best served by having their representatives in government,”
he said.
“In these dangerous times, Hungary is increasingly committed to a stable, respectful, and mutually beneficial cooperation with Romania—this is dictated by our economic and energy security interests—and in this regard, the RMDSZ’s participation in the government is good news. We are ready to work together,” he concluded.
As Hungary Today previously reported, the RMDSZ will have three representatives in the cabinet: Attila Cseke will continue his work as head of the Development Ministry; András Demeter has been nominated to lead the Culture Ministry, and Barna Tánczos will serve as Deputy Prime Minister without a specific ministerial portfolio.
