Largest Event of the Hungarian Diaspora in Western Europe Shines for the 51st Time

An impressive testament to the cohesion of the Hungarian community: all 1,300 tickets for the largest event of the Hungarian diaspora in Western Europe were sold out in less than three hours. On January 31, 2026, the Hungarian Catholic Community of St. Gellért invited guests to a full house for the 51st Hungarian Charity Gala in Fellbach near Stuttgart, Germany.

Under the patronage of Gabriele Zull, mayor of Fellbach, where the event took place in the Schwabenlandhalle, guests celebrated a festival of encounter that radiates far beyond the borders of the region.

The charity gala program offered cultural highlights for all age groups. The Stuttgart folk dance group Csöbörcsök opened the dance part of the evening with a traditional Csárdás.

Later, they thrilled the audience once again with dances from the Little Hungarian Plain (Kisalföld), performed by their children’s and adult groups.

Other high-caliber guests provided musical variety. The Hungarian IFI Rocktheater from Slovakia added modern cultural accents. The Dobó István scout group presented their own performance. Their valuable work was also actively supported by the purchase of raffle tickets.

The band Tornádó ensured that the dance floor remained full until the early hours, with young and old alike taking part.

An emotional highlight was the performance by singer Attila László, who hails from Transylvania. The Fonogram Award winner and winner of the talent show “Csillag születik” proved to be particularly close to his fans. During his performance, he left the stage to sing among the guests, transforming the hall into one big stage.

For lovers of Hungarian folklore, the organizers had also set up a separate “Táncház” (dance house) inside the building, where dance enthusiasts could celebrate late into the night.

For over 50 years, the Hungarian charity gala has proven to be a cornerstone of Hungarian identity in Western Europe.

After the completely sold-out success, there is no question that the tradition will continue next year.
