Leading Chinese Electronics Company Opens Factory in Kisbér

Hungary welcomes Chinese investments, and Hungarian politics has done a lot to make China see us as a partner, said Levente Magyar, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, at the inauguration of the Chinese Fiberhome optical cable factory in Kisbér (northwestern Hungary) on Monday.
The State Secretary noted that “together we must find a way to ensure that Chinese investors can provide wages in Hungary that are competitive.” He stressed that Komárom-Esztergom County is one of the oldest industrial regions in the country, hence it is worth investing in the local workforce and rewarding the efforts of workers with high wages.
Fiberhome’s Hungarian subsidiary, Zettanet Kft., has invested HUF 8 billion (EUR 20 million) in the plant producing telecom fiber-optic cables, employing nearly 150 people.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Judit Czunyiné Bertalan, State Secratary for Regional Development, said that Komárom-Esztergom is the third best performing county in the country and the plant will be located in one of the country’s key logistics regions.
The investment in Kisbér by the Chinese subsidiary of Fiberhome was announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó in Beijing in April 2024. At the time, he said that the Hungarian state will provide 15 percent financial support for the HUF 8 billion investment. Following the company’s official announcement in May last year, the Minister pointed out that Fiberhome is considered among the world’s best in the electronics industry, adding that the facility in Kisbér will be its first European plant.
The facility will be able to produce three million kilometers of fiber-optic cable a year, making over 100 products. The annual revenue is planned to reach EUR 30 million. The building covers an area of 25,000 square meters, with the production area currently occupying 9,500 square meters.
