Leading Tire Manufacturer Expands Mega-Factory in Rácalmás

Premium tire manufacturer Hankook has started the capacity expansion of its plant in Rácalmás (central Hungary), that is expected to be completed by 2027. The new investment includes the construction of a state-of-the-art truck and bus tire production line capable of producing up to 800,000 tires per year, reports Autopro.

The development will enable the production of Hankook’s premium long-haul and mixed-use products, including the SmartLine AL/DL 50 and SmartFlex AL/DL 51 models, as well as the new e-SMART series specifically designed for electric commercial vehicles. The new production line will serve a wider range of European market needs, including long-haul and regional transportation, construction applications and winter use, reads the statement.

The Rácalmás plant has been producing passenger and light truck tires since 2007 and plays a key role in the company’s growth strategy in Europe. The plant is currently equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities,

and has an annual production capacity of approximately 17 million passenger and light truck tires.

The new production unit will utilize state-of-the-art technologies, including the use of sustainable, renewable and recycled raw materials, as well as 3D-based additives for tread optimization. The Rácalmás plant has been awarded ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification), demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Hankook will invest nearly 540 million euros in the expansion project until 2027. The company currently operates eight manufacturing plants worldwide with a total annual production capacity of approximately 100 million tires.
