Dr Ádám Vida, Director of Research and Development at Bay Zoltán Research Center
A new automotive battery testing laboratory and research and development center will be established in Hungary in cooperation between the Bay Zoltán Research Center and CAERI (China Automotive Engineering Research Institute), says a letter of intent signed on Thursday in Budapest, announced the Bay Zoltán Research Center in a statement to MTI.
The bilateral letter of intent was signed by Dr. Balázs Schmidt, executive director of the Bay Zoltán Research Center, and Liu Anmin, president of CAERI, at the “First Chinese-Hungarian Innovation Day” held at the HUN-REN (Hungarian Research Network) headquarters.
The planned test laboratory and development center will open up new opportunities not only for Hungarian researchers, but also for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which will thus be able to join the global technology value chain. The spin-off company that will be created is a milestone for Hungarian industry and research:
the cooperation strengthens the domestic innovation ecosystem and contributes to Hungary’s strategic role as a bridge between Europe and Asia in the field of applied research and industrial development,
the announcement said.
The Bay Zoltán Research Center has been a key player and proactive shaper of Hungarian applied research for more than three decades. To strengthen its international presence, it has been building its network of Asian contacts for years, resulting in the establishment of technology transfer centers in Budapest and Chongqing. The aim of these centers is to promote the commercialization of research results and encourage joint development. The agreement now signed is a strategic continuation of this process, taking Chinese-Hungarian scientific and industrial cooperation to a new level, the institution emphasized.
The announcement also mentioned that further agreements were concluded at the event. The Bay Zoltán Research Center signed a letter of intent with EVE Power Hungary on the joint development of wastewater treatment for the battery industry. Edutus University signed an education and innovation agreement with its Chinese partner to promote knowledge sharing and international cooperation among young researchers.
