MEP Harald Vilimsky
The European Parliament voted down the Patriots’ proposal to hold a debate on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s life-threatening threat to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Harald Vilimsky, MEP for the Patriots, announced in Strasbourg on Monday during a break in the EP plenary session.
Speaking to Hungarian journalists, the Austrian MEP emphasized that Volodymyr Zelenskyy had “threatened the Hungarian Prime Minister in a terrible and unbelievable way, putting his life in danger,” which, he stressed, constituted a threat to the security of a head of state of the European Union.
What Zelenskyy said was a threat, a clear threat,”
he said.
In his speech before the agenda, the MEP emphasized that the European Parliament should protect Viktor Orbán and show that it stands for the rule of law against violence.
“Let us stand up for Viktor Orbán, a head of government of an EU member state, and for the Hungarian people,” Harald Vilimsky said in his speech. He stated that the European Commission is very friendly towards the Ukrainian president, “this cannot go on.”
He said that the Patriots therefore recommend that the EU suspend negotiations with Ukraine on its EU membership and suspend financial transfers to Kyiv.
First and foremost, free elections should be held in Ukraine, because the majority of the Ukrainian people do not support Zelenskyy’s remaining in office,”
he said.

In addition, he said, “we assure our Hungarian friends of our friendship, as Viktor Orbán is an important ally in the fight against the policies of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the actions of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.”
“I want Hungary to be a free country. Viktor Orbán is an ally who guarantees that Hungary will be strong and free,” he said.
In his statement, Harald Vilimsky called it scandalous that Ukraine had shut down the Druzhba oil pipeline, which, he emphasized, would provide good and cheap energy.
“Ukraine is playing a very unfair game. The pipeline must be reopened as soon as possible,” he said. He declared his full support for Hungary, which “plays fair.”
Hungary is a sovereign state that is not controlled by the European Commission, he pointed out. Harald Vilimsky concluded by expressing his regret that others are not standing by Viktor Orbán, but are instead supporting Zelenskyy.
“I hope that Hungarian voters will respond to this madness on April 12,” the Austrian MEP from the Patriots concluded.
