Military Cadets Practice Survival Skills in the Wilderness

Military Cadets participated in a survival training session in Nagyszállás (eastern Hungary), where they gained valuable practical skills, reports honvedelem.hu.

This event, part of the Honvéd Cadet Program, was led by soldiers from the 2nd Territorial Defense Regiment, including Antal Vattay, who designed the curriculum. Around thirty cadets attended the session, which focused on applying survival techniques learned in theory.

During the session, cadets practiced knot tying, fire lighting, water purification, and shelter building in the forest. Lieutenant Zoltán Molnár, platoon commander of the 5th Area Protection Battalion, emphasized that these skills are essential in military training but also have everyday applications.

Such programs are crucial to national defense education, with the Territorial Defense Regiments actively supporting experiential learning for cadets and reserve personnel.

This initiative reflects Hungary’s increasing focus on strengthening defense capabilities. Recently, the country has made strides in military development, with advancements in research and innovation. The newly appointed director-general of the Defense Innovation Institute is tasked with driving forward military research, aiming to foster Hungary’s technological competitiveness in defense.
