After being closed for several months, the thermal pool at Borostyán Camping and Beach Resort in Mezőkovácsháza is once again open to visitors. The amber-colored certified thermal water of the southeastern Hungarian settlement is known for its beneficial and effective treatment of numerous health problems.
The facility in the south of Békés County was closed on August 1, due to technical issues which, according to the operator, meant that safe operation could no longer be guaranteed.
Sándor Serfőző, managing director of the municipal administration in Mezőkovácsháza, told beol.hu that the reopening was made possible thanks to the technical repairs carried out, successful maintenance work, and the favorable water quality results.
The comfort of the pool area has also been improved to make bathing pleasant even in winter conditions.
In addition to winterizing the system, modern, energy-saving LED mood lighting has also been installed. This will be an additional service for visitors, especially during evening and night opening hours.
One of the most important attractions of the baths remains the certified healing water.
The amber-colored thermal water in the healing pools has a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius.
The thermal water that feeds the baths is rich in minerals, sodium bicarbonate, chloride, iodide, fluoride, and sulfide, and has a high content of metaboric and metacarbonic acid. The medicinal water of the baths is recommended primarily for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and gynecological issues, but it also has an excellent stress-reducing effect. It has therefore long been popular with the region’s inhabitants.
According to official information from Borostyán Camping and Beach, the cheapest thermal bath in the country can be visited with a ticket costing only 999 forints (2.59 euros).
The new opening hours are:
- Friday 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Saturday 2:00 p.m. – midnight.
- Sunday 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
