Müpa Budapest’s 2025 Program Features Budapest World-famous Performers

In addition to Joyce DiDonato, Jordi Savall, Riccardo Chailly and the Vienna Philharmonic, the best of jazz and popular music and many other local artists will perform at Müpa Budapest (former Palace of Arts) in 2025.

The Filarmonica della Scala from Milan, conducted by Riccardo Chailly, will perform a rarely heard piece by Luciano Berio with orchestra, and one of today’s most distinguished cellists, Gautier Capuçon, will play Dvorák’s popular cello concerto.

Andris Nelsons, who conducts the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, has chosen Dvorák’s The Golden Spinning Wheel, a curiosity in concert halls.

British conductor Thomas Adès will perform a Haydn symphony and Leoš Janáček’s undeservedly overlooked Taras Bulba (rhapsody), as well as three contemporary works, including his own compositions, in a joint concert with the Vienna Philharmonic.

The German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen, led by Estonian-American Paavo Järvi, returns to Müpa Budapest with works by Beethoven and Schubert, and a world star violinist in Janine Jansen. Hungarian audiences will hear for the first time the coloratura mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato in the title role of Handel’s oratorio Jephtha, in a full oratorio accompanied by outstanding singers and the Italian music ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro.

Conductor Jordi Savall is preparing a real speciality: a new, complete version of Mozart’s unfinished Great Mass in C minor, K. 427.

Legendary David Bowie’s last co-composer and avant-garde big band jazz innovator Maria Schneider will come to Budapest with the Oslo Jazz Ensemble after her cancelled concert in 2022.

Next year, the trumpet will be the focus: Philip Lassiter will be here, Till Brönner will show his musical talent alongside his photographic work, and Theo Croker, representing the next generation of jazz trumpeters, will be heard for the first time in Hungary.

Müpa Filmklub‘s series celebrating Hungarian animation continues with new animated films, including works by Attila Dargay, Béla Ternovszky, Gábor Csupó and Marcell Jankovics.

Literature lovers will be able to discover the works of Lili Kemény, Géza Bereményi, Árpád Kun and Ádám Nádasdy, while the Poem Evenings will focus on the poetry of János Vajda, Domokos Szilágyi and Gizella Hervay.

Contemporary ballet will be performed by companies from all over the country, while folk dance traditions will be brought to Müpa by the Danube Art Ensemble, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble and the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble.

Müpa+ loyalty program members will be the first to buy tickets for the newly announced performances: the pre-sale period starts on October 1 at Platinum level, on October 2 at 10 a.m. at Gold level and on October 2 at 2 p.m. at Silver level.
