From October 7, a new era begins for drivers traveling from Hungary to Croatia: the border section of the M6 motorway will open, connecting directly to the Croatian A5 motorway. With the opening of the new section, the Croatian part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor 5c, connecting Budapest with Ploče on the Dalmatian coast via Osijek and Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be complete.
The official opening ceremony takes place on October 6, marking the opening of the approximately five-kilometer section from Pélmonostor to the Hungarian border. This is the last missing section connecting the Croatian A5 motorway with the M6. It is important for those arriving from Hungary to note that traffic on the connected road network will only start on Tuesday, October 7. From that day on, travel time between Budapest and Osijek will be significantly reduced, and transportation between the two countries will become even more convenient.
The newly completed five-kilometer section includes eight different structures: the Karasica viaduct, the Gajic and Rasce overpasses, the Karasica 2 bridge, the Travnik 1 and Travnik 2 bridges, and two bridges over canals. The most impressive structure is the 318-meter-long Karasica viaduct, one of the largest structures of its kind in the region.
On the Croatian side, it is free to drive to Beli Manastir (Pélmonostor), but after that, the use of the A5 motorway is subject to a toll. The toll to Osijek (Eszék) is approximately 670 forints for a passenger car.

The opening of the new motorway section will not only boost tourism and passenger traffic, but also strengthen economic ties between the two countries. By connecting the M6 and A5 motorways, Croatia will have a direct motorway connection with Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will also create new opportunities for logistical and commercial cooperation in the region.
