A four-day referee camp sponsored by the National Hockey League (NHL) begins in Budapest, starting on Wednesday, with the participation of more than fifty young referees from 15 countries across three continents.

The international sporting event’s patron is Dániel Gyurta, former Olympic champion swimmer, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s sports diplomacy department. The event aims to promote the development of young referees.

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, expressed his support in a letter to the organizers of the international training camp “Summer Exposure Combine 2025 supported by NHL” to be held at the Óbuda Ice Hall (Budapest), and expressed his appreciation for Hungary hosting such a prestigious sporting event.

The aim of the event is to build bridges between young talents, professional leaders and international partners through sport, thereby promoting, among other things, the international reputation of Hungarian ice hockey and refereeing,”

read the statement.

What makes the event special is that it is also supported by the NHL: experts delegated by the overseas professional league will arrive at the camp to conduct intensive training and evaluation work with the participants, selecting the most talented ones and offering them the opportunity for international advancement. The best will be invited to the NHL’s official referee camp in Buffalo. Admission to the NHL Exposure Combine is by invitation only. From there, it could be a direct path to the world’s strongest league, offering participants the opportunity for a real international sports career.
