OPSWAT Opens Hungary’s First Critical Infrastructure Cyber Lab

Two days ago, OPSWAT officially opened the CIP Lab (Critical Infrastructure Protection Laboratory) in Veszprém, Hungary’s first center specifically focused on the cybersecurity of critical infrastructures. The U.S.-based global cybersecurity company aims to use the lab to model the operation of real industrial systems in order to develop, test, and educate on the most advanced security solutions, veszpremkukac.hu reports.

The CIP Lab environment enables the safe simulation of energy, transportation, water management, and healthcare systems. The demonstration space offers insight into the operation of modern cybersecurity not only for professionals, but also for university students, clients, and partners.

The new laboratory can be found next to OPSWAT’s Veszprém office, which has been operating for 11 years.

Csaba Litkei, head of OPSWAT’s Veszprém office, emphasized that behind the demonstrations in the laboratory lies serious engineering work, yet they are presented in a clear and visually appealing format.

The new multifunctional building serves simultaneously as a development, educational, and community space, where engineers, researchers, and students work together on the security solutions of the future.

Benny Czarny, founder and CEO of OPSWAT, emphasized that Veszprém is a city of innovation and technological creativity, making it an ideal location for the company’s regional base.

At the opening, Mayor Gyula Porga highlighted that jobs based on high-level knowledge and innovation represent the future of the city.

The center works closely with domestic and international universities, research institutes, and industrial players. The CIP Lab offers the opportunity to test cybersecurity solutions in environments close to real-world conditions, supporting not only OPSWAT’s product development but also the growth of the Hungarian cybersecurity ecosystem.

OPSWAT was founded in 2002 in the United States and is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Its solutions, such as MetaDefender and MetaAccess, are used by thousands of organizations worldwide, including government, healthcare, and financial institutions. The investment in Veszprém is a key point in the company’s global mission, contributing to cybersecurity development in the Central European region.
