Remember the times when the existence of the „Soros-network” was only an Orbán/Fidesz conspiracy theory with an antisemitic undertone?
Ever-since the Hungarian Prime Minister has ventured out to speak about its anti-democratic manipulations openly at the outbreak of the 2015 Angela Merkel-induced migrant invasion, the rest of the national-sovereigntist political sphere has slowly come around to accept its existence. However, its latest iteration, where it is being linked to the so-called U.S. “Russia-gate” scandal, could well be its last chapter.
In his most recent interpretation, Viktor Orbán has explained the Soros-network as one of the elements of a tripartite network interfering with the Hungarian political landscape: the NGO and media landscape funded by U.S. oligarch George Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF), EU finances, and the network directly set up by the (former) U.S. government. These networks have been now not only exposed in relation to the shady financing of anti-government, left-wing media and civil groups, but also directly linked to financing opposition political parties and candidates in Hungary and abroad. Their main instrument for discrediting the Orbán government? The ever-present narrative of the alleged Kremlin puppet government, Vladimir Putin’s agent, etc. From trolls in Hungary Today’s Facebook comment section to the mainstream legacy media and NGO reports, accusations of Russian interference in Hungarian politics are omnipresent.

Starting with the 2016 presidential battle between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, this narrative has been put to good use by the U.S. Democrats and their subservient legacy media network. In fact the New York Times and the Washington Post have jointly won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for their reporting on the alleged Russian interference on behalf of Donald Trump’s campaign.
Since then the entire narrative has turned out to be a very dangerous hoax concocted by the Clinton campaign in order to distract from her own private email scandal, as well as to discredit her opponent, Donald Trump.
According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, former President Barack Obama himself has played a role in the entire fake smear campaign. Yet the new Trump administration has now brought to light what seems to be a very convincing trail of documents leading towards the direct involvement of the CIA, the FBI and the Department of Justice in what they call the subversion of American democracy.
One of the alleged key players in this astonishing campaign is reported to be Leonard Benardo, the OSF’s Director for Eurasia, whose name appears in recently declassified documents. The „information (about Russian ties, ed. note) would be disseminated through leading U.S. publications” with the aim of creating „a long-term affair to demonize Putin and Trump”, Benardo allegedly wrote. “Later the FBI will put more oil into the fire”, he added in the document. The document then goes on to say that Hillary Clinton has personally approved this course of action.
OPINION: Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s friendship with Russian President Vladimir Putin is an embrace between two nationalistic strongmen.

The new Trump-appointed director of the FBI and DoJ are on course to uncovering the details of the so called Russia hoax, and just recently the U.S. attorney general has ordered a grand jury investigation into the scandal. If proved real, the entire scandal will make Water-gate look like a storm in the teacup. Heads are likely to roll, but the investigation could finally unmask Soros’ Open Society Funds for what the Hungarian PM has claimed them to be for years:
a global network of radical left-wing actors subverting democracies and destabilizing societies with their bottomless financial resources.
Hilary Clinton and the Intel community knew the Russia collusion narrative was a hoax and they kept pushing it anyways.

The Pulitzer Committee has so far refused to revoke its Prize from the NYT and the Washington Post, albeit it is becoming clear that the two publications have played an active part in propagating false information about Donald Trump, thus undermining the entire American conservative base. As much as times are changing in the U.S. and skeletons are falling out of the Democrats’ closets, in Europe the Russia-gate project is still alive and well. The Russian card is not only played out by the EU and the Soros-funded media and activist political NGO base against Orbán Viktor,
it is used to smear the entire European conservative sphere from Poland to Spain, Italy to France or Germany.
In fact it has been overused by the radical left to such an extent that it is now arguably starting to lose its intended effect.

Until the current European liberal elite finally loses its total grip on power as some predict, the Russian interference narrative will remain pervasive in their concerted efforts to undermine conservative forces and societies. From Britain to EU countries, the media continues to churn out relentless false accusations about alleged Russian interests behind any national conservative initiative, be it border controls, LGBTQ initiatives, or opposing Brussels’ aggressive federalism. As in the case of the Clinton email scandal, this remains a convenient instrument for distracting from their own failings, such as with the Donald Tusk regime in Poland accused of systemic human rights violations, or in Germany, where the AfD party or any dissent against immigration are automatically tied to an alignment with Moscow.
Apart from the fact that some of the U.S.-based financiers of this manipulative narrative are currently in the process of being dismantled, such as the USAID, or unmasked as an existential threat to the democratic system, such as the Open Society Foundations, the uncovering of the Russia hoax by the Trump administration is something every European citizen should keep a close eye on.
The EU- and Soros-funded smear campaigns against European conservative politicians, such as Viktor Orbán, Alice Weidel or Marine le Pen are, to a large extent, clones of their U.S. counterpart.
The fact that in Germany’s case successive left-wing governments in Berlin have managed to drag their intelligence services into propagating this fake Russian narrative at least to the same extent as the U.S. Democrats did, makes the whole undertaking all the more dangerous. The other fact though, namely that Hungary’s own intelligence services, as well as investigations by their Sovereignty Protection Office have managed to produce tangible evidence against the OSF-financed deep state’s manipulations, will likely get an increasing amount of credence with the unfolding U.S. investigation into the Democrat-created Russia hoax. Ironically, the only winners of the entire scandal will be the Russian spooks. After so many years of crying Wolf, even legitimate concerns about the Kremlin’s activities could now be dismissed as yet another anti-sovereigntist hoax by the global left.
