Over Two-Thirds of Germans Want Change in Migration Policy, Says Adviser

The Prime Minister’s chief adviser on domestic security, György Bakondi, said on TV2 channel’s Mokka program that the proportion of people in Germany who want change in the management of migration, regardless of political party affiliation, is estimated at 70 percent.

György Bakondi added that a process is underway not only in the German Alternative for Germany party (AfD), but across Europe, where new solutions are being sought to tackle migration. In Austria, the Netherlands, France and Italy, the migration pact adopted by the European Parliament is not considered to be a suitable solution.

He pointed out that there are hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in Europe who cannot be deported.

Meanwhile, public security is deteriorating, as shown by acts of terrorism and serious attacks on life in Germany and other countries.

He recalled that the AfD’s political views and approach to addressing and dealing with migration would take German politics in a direction supported by the majority, and therefore its support is growing and will be an important factor in the upcoming German elections.

On February 13, at least 28 people were injured when a terrorist drove into a crowd in Munich. The driver has been identified as a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker.

Many Hungarian politicians, including the Prime Minister, reacted to the incident and sent their condolences. Zsigmond Barna Pál, Parliamentary State Secretary and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of European Union Affairs wrote on X that the perpetrator was arrested multiple times for theft and drug dealing. “Europe’s security must not be sacrificed for pro-migrant policies. Stop mass migration—defend Europe’s borders!”, reads the Hungarian MP’s post.

In response to a question, the adviser said it was a political decision to allow the return of illegal migrants who are criminals or who are living a criminal lifestyle in Europe, as in America. He added that a similar solution in Germany or in other European countries could improve the public security crisis that has arisen precisely because of a misguided migration policy.

He recalled that

Hungary is receiving very substantial fines from the European Court of Justice precisely because it does not allow illegal migrants into the country to protect the Hungarian population.

He said that intensive negotiations were under way with the European Union, while in the United States there had been a very significant political turnaround, which could serve as an example in terms of migration policy.
