Panna Udvardy Enters the Top 100 Tennis Players in World Rankings


Panna Udvardy, who triumphed on Sunday at the $115,000 clay court challenger tennis tournament in Buenos Aires, has entered the top 100 in the world rankings for female tennis players, which now includes three Hungarians. 

As the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) website confirms, Udvardy has climbed 12 places and is now ranked 95th, as announced by the Hungarian Tennis Association on Sunday evening. She is surpassed only by one compatriot:

Anna Bondár, who remains in 75th place. Dalma Gálfi is also among the top 100, moving from 96th to 98th place.

Udvardy has thus secured her place in the main draw of the Australian Open in January.

Udvardy has not yet won a tournament on the WTA Tour, but this was her second trophy in the second-tier Challenger series: she also celebrated in the Argentine capital in 2022.

Panna Udvardy (born September 28, 1998) is a Hungarian tennis player. She is a U16 world championship bronze medalist, two-time U16 European champion (2014) and U16 European championship bronze medalist (2013).

During her adult career, she has won one WTA tournament in doubles; she has two WTA125K tournament victories in both singles and doubles, and has finished first in 12 ITF tournaments in singles and nine in doubles. Her best world rankings up until now: is 76th in singles, which she achieved on September 12, 2022, and in doubles she was ranked 65th on October 24, 2022.

Her best result in Grand Slam tournaments is the second round at Wimbledon in 2022 in singles and the second round at Roland Garros in 2023 in doubles.
