Patriots for Europe Group Announce Motion of No Confidence Against EC President

“We, the Patriots, will table a motion of no confidence against the President of the European Commission,” said Jordan Bardella, adding that the necessary signatures had already been collected.

“We must defend our interests, the interests of our farmers, and low-cost energy sources,” said the French politician, adding that the motion of no confidence is directed against the European Commission’s “discredited and isolated” president.

MEP Kinga Gál, Vice President of the Patriots for Europe group said

the Patriots’ motion of no confidence against Ursula von der Leyen is a response to the fact that the European Commission not only makes bad decisions, but its operations are also surrounded by scandals.

None of this can be debated in the European Parliament, even though the faction has collected the necessary number of signatures, she said. This clearly demonstrates the hypocrisy that pervades the European Union, she pointed out.

Europe is weaker than ever. The European Commission and its president are unable to cope with Europe’s most important challenges, including establishing peace, trade issues, competitiveness, and migration. The president of the EU Commission did not provide answers to these questions in her annual speech.

What we heard today is a reinforcement of the same flawed approach, and what is more, it is based on a logic of war, a war psychosis, which is frightening,”

she said.

Europe is in a fight.

Instead of providing solutions, the European Commission has itself become a problem, the Fidesz politician pointed out. The President of the European Commission should have taken responsibility and announced her resignation, and her speech on Wednesday about the situation in the EU would have been an excellent opportunity to do so, she noted.

In the current situation, the EU needs new leadership that represents the real interests of the European people. It is time for this European Commission to pack its bags, added Kinga Gál.
