We had the pleasure of meeting Gerald Grosz, Austrian author and former politicians during the “Really just a bad election” event organized by the Center for Fundamental Rights (Alapjogokért Központ) in Budapest. We have asked him about his bestseller book, Merkel’s Work, as well as his assessment of former chancellor Angela Merkel’s political heritage.
Could you please summarize briefly what your new book is about and what is its relevance for us Hungarians?
Ten years ago, Angela Merkel said, “We can do it,” and in doing so, she divided Europe; she undermined Europe. More than 9 million people have arrived, mostly unchecked, across continents. That is more people than live in Austria, an EU member state.
The economic costs, are enormous – 50 billion in Germany, 2 billion euros in Austria for social costs related to migration.
We have huge problems; in the last 10 years, we have suddenly seen the phenomenon of gang rapes. I come from Vienna. On Friday, a gang of 10 youths with a migrant background who had repeatedly raped a 12-year-old girl was acquitted by an Austrian court. This gang was acquitted and gave journalists and judges the middle finger. Since yesterday, the public prosecutor’s office in Austria has been investigating allegations that they raped another 11-year-old girl in the same place, in a district of Vienna with a high proportion of immigrants.
We have had other cases. In my book, I describe the fate of Leonie from Vienna, a 13-year-old girl who was raped by four Afghans. I interviewed her mother. I also interviewed Michael Kyrath, the father of Ann-Marie from Brokstedt, whose daughter and her boyfriend Danny were stabbed to death on a train by a refugee who had been invited by Angela Merkel in 2015, when all the media and politicians in Europe told us: Refugees welcome.

2. Are not we focusing too much on these destructive political figures instead of asking about voters? What do they repeatedly vote for far-left politicians even though the consequences should be clear by now?
No, that is wrong. People vote conservatively. There is a conservative majority of 60 percent in the European Parliament, a conservative majority of 55 percent in the Austrian Parliament, and a majority of more than 50 percent in Germany consisting of the AfD and the Union (CDU/CSU). The problem is that people in our countries believe they are voting conservatively, but they are voting for Trojan horses. These are the so-called pseudo-conservatives. These are the Christian Socialists, the politicians who promise right-wing, conservative policies in beer tents at election rallies before the election, and then bring left-wing, green socialists into the government after the election, or build firewalls in Germany.
This means that 60 percent of people in Europe vote conservatively, 60 percent do not want these policies, but get them anyway because they are partly betrayed and lied to by political governments from the pseudo-conservative camp, the Trojan horses of conservatism.
And that is the problem. There is a desire for change in Europe.

3. The CDU and CSU have been misleading their voters for decades now, and they are arguably more dangerous than classic liberals, because they are pretending to be conservatives.
That is exactly what I am saying. The problem is that you have political parties and political groups that promise conservative, right-wing policies. Friedrich Merz, the German chancellor, spoke before the election about an upper limit on refugees and border controls. I am driving on to Munich this afternoon because I have an appearance in Würzburg tomorrow. I will bet you my entire fortune that I will not be checked at the Austrian-German border crossing. I will be checked at the big highway border crossing near Salzburg, but at the small border crossings, where 300 to 400 people cross the border every day, there will be no checks. There is not a single police officer there. That is fraud. It is fraud against the voters, it is fraud against the citizens.
You have competition today, Angela Merkel herself is here in Budapest today to launch her own autobiography. She clearly does not understand how inappropriate her presence is in Hungary, what would you tell her to make her understand?
In my view, Angela Merkel is the greatest political criminal in post-war history. She and her policies, which are still being implemented today, represent the destruction of Europe, our identity, our culture, our language, our mentality, and our socialization.

Pope Benedict, Joseph Ratzinger, once said that Europe is the faith of Israel, the philosophy of Greece, and the law of ancient Rome. All of this has been destroyed by Angela Merkel because she has abolished the law of Rome; she has destroyed the faith of Israel because she has exposed Judaism and Christianity to enemies from the Islamic world. She destroyed the philosophy of Greece by importing mostly, not all, there are also good examples that worked, but mostly importing people from foreign cultures who want to destroy this philosophy, which is based on humanism and the fundamental rights of every individual. Angela Merkel is the destroyer of Europe. The reason Angela Merkel is here today is the same reason I am here. But I am also here in Budapest because
Budapest is like the good old Vienna for me, it is the safe Vienna.
There are 100,000 Jews living in Hungary, compared to 8,000 in Austria. In Austria, Jews cannot walk down the street wearing a kippah, but in Hungary they can. There are more gay bars in Hungary than in Vienna, whereas in Vienna gay men are beaten up in taxis. In Hungary, there are no gang rapes and no similar incidents. This is the good old Europe. With the identity, with this culture, with this philosophy, with these characteristics that define Europe. That is why I am here in the center of Europe.
