Pharmaceutical Company Contributes HUF 100 Million to Science Education

The Centenary Foundation of Gedeon Richter Plc is supporting science education improvement in public schools with a HUF 100 million (EUR 250,000) grant, the pharmaceutical company announced on Monday.
Last year the foundation supported the applications of 35 institutions. The aim of the program is to provide support to even more institutions in the coming years, thus further strengthening Hungarian science education, reads the press release.
The program will provide institutions with the opportunity to purchase laboratory equipment, demonstration tools, classroom equipment, scientific instruments, special furniture, storage equipment and infrastructure for science education.
In the announcement, Csaba Szántay, Richter’s Chief Scientific Advisor and Head of Health and Education Support, stressed that “the grant scheme not only gives the applicant school the chance to expand its science education facilities, but also represents a pledge by Richter to provide the school’s teachers and students with an exciting and enlightening insight into the magical world of modern drug research through study visits and other forums.”
Attila Bódis, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Centenary Foundation, said that the initiative is bringing more and more secondary schools to the Centenary Foundation every year, where they meet excellent teachers who work with the greatest love and dedication to educate and develop the knowledge of their students. “Our job is to help them in this work,” he added.
Grants of between HUF 500,000 and 10 million (EUR 1,250-25,000) can be applied for.
