“Rebel Against Brussels”: State Secretary Urges Youth to Defend Christian Europe

Today, it takes courage to represent Christianity and Christian values in public life, said the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development at the national assembly of the Youth Christian Democratic Alliance (IKSZ) on Friday.

Csaba Latorcai continued, “We have reached the point where those in power in Brussels are now ruthlessly acting like 21st-century inquisitors against anyone who questions the policies they represent.”

At the moment, Brussels’ policies deny everything that is Christian, he said. Christianity represents peace, while they represent war, he explained.

Christianity builds culture, while they are destroying our 2,000-year-old culture,” he said, adding: “Christianity stands for the order of creation; we believe that God created man as male and woman as female, and that this identity is not something we can change every week.”

He added that Brussels is taking a stand against all this with its relentless promotion of gender theory.

Addressing the young people attending the meeting, he said, “I ask you to rebel against Brussels, because I believe that by working together, we can save the whole of Europe.” But to do that, we must win another battle together, Csaba Latorcai concluded, referring to the parliamentary elections in April.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s letter was read by János Nagy, State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office. The head of government wrote that European politics is reminiscent of the age of castle wars: “wherever foreign-hearted mercenaries settle, intruders can enter without a sword stroke.” He added that Hungary is one of the last strongholds still holding out.

For a decade and a half, our resistance has thwarted every crazy European idea, from migration to gender to Ukraine’s accession to the EU,”

the prime minister said.

Now that we have repelled every attack, they want to hand over the reins of government to people who would willingly open the gates, Viktor Orbán wrote.

“We Hungarians are just one election away from losing everything we have built up over the past 16 years,” said the prime minister, adding that “young people would be the biggest losers if a wrong decision were made today.”

István Simicskó, leader of the KDNP parliamentary group, said in his speech that the April election could be a “great test”: the stakes are very high, there are challengers, but they can be defeated. The Tisza phenomenon poses serious dangers for Hungary, he warned.

Gábor Halmay, president of the IKSZ, said that representing the interests of their generation is not a fad or a matter of fashion, and cannot be entrusted to “narcissistic political adventurers.” He emphasized that the responsibility of young people does not end with commentary.

He also referred to the political statement discussed at the delegates’ meeting, which states that peace is not a political tactic but a moral obligation. They stand for peace in Europe and the world and reject all decisions that serve to prolong the war. They do not accept that the price of war should be paid by the Hungarian people, especially Hungarian youth, even at the cost of human lives, he said.

He pointed out that they are convinced that Europe’s crisis is not merely economic or political, but also spiritual and identity-related:

Europe was strong when it knew who it was.” When it was based on the moral order derived from the Christian faith, respect for human dignity, and the protection of families and communities. If it renounces this, it renounces itself,

said the president of the IKSZ.

He emphasized that they strongly support the protection of children and reject ideological efforts that relativize human identity, confuse the younger generation, and attack the institution and sanctity of the family.

“In Europe today, the greatest rebellion is to be a Christian. We do not choose the easy path, but the right path,” he said. He also noted that, according to a statement, the Christian Democratic Youth Association stands by the Fidesz-KDNP party alliance and supports Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in his work for the future of Hungary.

Gergely Gulyás, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, greeted the event in a video message, emphasizing that there will be elections in two and a half months, and in order for the governing parties to perform well, there is a particular need for young people who understand why the stakes are high in the election, who approach politics on the basis of values, and for whom Christian public life is important in the 21st century.

In his video message, Tibor Navracsics, Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development, called the IKSZ a strategic partner and emphasized that the future of Christian democracy depends on young people.

He expressed his conviction that Christian democracy was not just a brief historical period after World War II, but that Christian democracy must still remind Western European Christian Democratic politicians of their original mission, namely peace in Europe.
