Surprise Winter Wonderland in Northern Hungary
February came with a surprising twist. Following last week’s warm spell, beautiful white snow covered the streets and forests in many parts of the country, including Nógrád county in northern Hungary.

According to the meteorological service, February will start with typically sunny but colder than average weather. Clouds and snow are expected in many parts of the country, but no frost. On Monday night there will be only occasional snow showers, clouds will disperse from dawn, and during the day on Monday the weather will be mostly sunny. In the central parts of the country though, “heavy clouds are likely,” with some areas still likely to see snow showers. Stronger winds are expected mainly in the Transdanubian region. Temperatures may drop to minus 6 degrees Celsius at night, with a maximum of 7 degrees during the day.
If you are expecting to visit these regions, you will be met with a snowy surprise.
