The song The wind is talking… (Szél úgy beszél…) became the winner of the Hungarian TV channel provider, Duna Television’s weeks-long light music competition.
Gypo Circus X Szirota Jennifer, along with winning the title of Hungary’s song 2025 (Magyarország dala), also earned opportunities for album and music video production as a part of the public media’s offer. The songs performed during the final of the competition named The Song (A Dal) on Saturday were accompanied by the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Krisztián Balassa.
In Saturday’s final, based on the judges’ scores, the top four included: Mesél a szél (Stories of the wind) by Asphalt Horse, Nagyapám(My grandfather) by Richárd Borbély, Szél úgy beszél… by Gypo Circus X Szirota Jennifer, and Álmok (Dreams) by Karmen Pál-Baláľ & Olivér Patocska.
The viewers selected The wind is talking… as Hungary’s song for 2025. The main prize was presented by the Petőfi Music Award-winning performer, Petra Gubik.
The judge described the band as: “like life itself, multifaceted, diverse, joyful, and sometimes bittersweet.”
Hungary’s song is about the importance of human connections. “It is a concern that nowadays we do not spend enough time with our family, loved ones, and friends, and sometimes we only realize this neglect when it is too late,” the band explained about the lyrics of their song. In addition to the winner’s performance, the other seven finalists also received a prize that can be used to further their music careers.

During the Hungarian light music celebration, the newest Hungarian songs were evaluated, with over 300 submissions.
Thirty-two productions received the chance for national exposure, with the selected pool facing an exciting challenge: in the second round, they performed their songs in different musical genres, with the participation of star performers and rearranged versions.
Fact
The Song (A Dal) is an annual Hungarian music competition organized by Duna Television since 2012. It served as the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest from 2012 to 2019. The contest was designed to showcase Hungarian musical tastes to a European audience, with all song information revealed during the selection process. After 2019 Hungary stopped participating in the European contest because they wanted to focus more on supporting local talent.
