Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has signaled that Hungary’s ruling party should prepare for the earliest possible date for next year’s parliamentary elections, likely the second weekend of April, as the first one falls during Easter.
Speaking on the debut of Harcosok órája (Hour of Fighters), a new online political show hosted by Fidesz spokesperson Balázs Németh, PM Orbán said the party is nearly finished selecting candidates for all 106 constituencies.
The show, streamed on YouTube and Facebook, is intended to counter “fake news” and provide immediate responses to political narratives.
Prime Minister Orbán described the digital space as hostile to conservatives and called for a “digital homeland conquest” to ensure that patriotic citizens can express themselves online without harassment.
Addressing EU–U.S. trade talks, Orbán sharply criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, saying she was outmatched by U.S. President Donald Trump. “Trump had her for breakfast,” he said, claiming the deal sacrifices European interests without clear national mandates or financial backing.

Orbán also mocked opposition politician Ákos Hadházy over rumors of exotic animals on his family estate and dismissed suggestions that Fidesz would use force to stay in power if defeated at the polls.
When asked why he refuses to debate Péter Magyar, leader of the rising Tisza Party, Orbán replied that he only engages with “the puppet masters”—referring to European bureaucrats like Ursula von der Leyen and Manfred Weber.
On migration, Prime Minister Orbán warned that adopting the EU’s migration pact would force Hungary to build refugee camps and accept quotas decided in Brussels. He called the deal “the end of Hungary,” and criticized those, including the Tisza Party, whom he claims quietly support it.
Turning to domestic politics, Orbán promoted the upcoming 3% Home Loan Program initiative, calling it a potential model for Europe if successful.
Finally, he took aim at demographic shifts in Western Europe, warning that rising Muslim voter populations would push governments toward pro-Palestinian policies, which he said threaten Jewish communities.
