Will Smith’s Son Wears Hungarian Designer at Grammy Awards

One of the most memorable moments of the 67th Grammy Awards was not a musical performance, but the astonishing headdress of Will Smith’s son. Jaden Smith was wearing a creation by Hungarian designer Dóra Abodi, reports Glamour.

The Grammy Awards are not just about musical performances, but also about bold fashion choices. At this year’s gala, Jaden Smith, son of actor Will Smith, captured all eyes with a truly iconic accessory: a black vampire castle headdress designed by Dóra Abodi, the owner of a Hungarian luxury brand ABODI Transylvania.

The piece, called Vampire Castle, was custom-made for Jaden, at the special request of his dresser. According to a statement from the ABODI brand,

the headpiece reflects the brand’s history and ethos, which draws inspiration from Transylvanian vampire legends and the history of the Báthori family.

One of the most famous Báthori family member was Countess Elizabeth Báthory of Ecsed (1560 – 1614), a Hungarian noblewoman and alleged serial killer. She and four of her servants were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of girls and women from 1590 to 1610. They were put on trial and convicted, and the servants were executed, whereas Báthory was imprisoned until she died in her sleep.

Stories about Báthory quickly became part of national folklore. Legends describing her vampiric tendencies, such as the tale that she bathed in the blood of virgins to retain her youth, were based on rumors and only recorded as supposedly factual over a century after her death.

The brand has also shared a video of Jaden Smith on Instagram, expressing their delight at the unusual opportunity.

The extravagant set quickly became the centre of attention, with Vogue, Variety, Vanity Fair, Elle and The New York Times all reporting on it.

“The now famous ABODI Transylvania Vampire Castle serves as a symbol of audacity, fortitude, and an embrace of folklore and legends.

It functions as a medium to recall one’s childhood and to retain a sense of playfulness and borderless creativity in relation to shapes, fabrics, concepts, colours, textures, fashion, and art”, the designer said.

This is not the first time that the ABODI brand has made a splash on the international fashion scene. In the past, stars such as Cate Blanchett, Bad Bunny, Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Willem Dafoe have worn their pieces.

According to the ABODI website, the Vampire Castle headdress is worth €4,500.
