Nuggets reportedly fire head coach Michael Malone, GM Calvin Booth
The Denver Nuggets have fired head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth with just three games left in the NBA regular season and with one week until the postseason, according to a report from ESPN on Tuesday.
Malone led the Nuggets to their first-ever NBA title in 2023 and a top-three finish in the Western Conference in four of the last five seasons, but Denver has underwhelmed this season, currently sitting at the No. 4 spot in the West and only 0.5 games clear of a dreaded play-in spot.
Malone posted a record of 471-327 in 10 seasons as Denver’s head coach, which is a winning percentage of 0.59. He’s the Nuggets’ winningest head coach of all time. He served as an assistant for the Nuggets before being elevated to head coach in 2013.
The Nuggets hired Booth as their assistant GM in 2017, and he was promoted to GM in 2020 after Arturas Karnisovas departed the team to work for the Chicago Bulls. His most notable move as GM was trading for Aaron Gordon in 2021.
This is a developing story.
