Tom Brady’s LFG Player of the Game: 10 best performances of the season

For each game he broadcasted during the 2024-25 season, FOX Sports lead NFL analyst Tom Brady awarded his LFG Player of the Game title to the one player who stood out to him the most.

Typically, the award went to the player who put up the best stats or had the most eye-popping play in the game that Brady called that week. However, Brady has also shown some love to the players in the trenches, including Kansas City guard Joe Thuney and Detroit offensive tackle Penei Sewell. Dallas star linebacker Micah Parsons was the first recipient of the award and the only defensive player to have been named Brady’s LFG Player of the Game.

There has also only been one repeat winner. While Brady’s limited in who he can pick for the award, a handful of teams have had multiple games with him on the call this season. Nonetheless, several players have given electrifying performances in front of the GOAT in his first season in the booth.

That said, here are the 10 best LFG Player of the Game performances so far this season:

The Ravens needed a victory over the Steelers in Week 16 in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. They were able to secure the 34-17 win with the help of their star quarterback. Jackson completed 15 of 23 passes for 207 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, good for a 115.4 passer rating. He helped Baltimore go toe-to-toe with Pittsburgh — as the Steelers hung around for much of the first three quarters — before leading the Ravens to two time-consuming scoring drives. Ultimately, the Ravens wound up winning the division, which allowed them to host the Steelers in their opening-round playoff win. It also added to Jackson’s strong case to win his third MVP.

“It [has] been awesome watching you play this year,” Brady told Jackson. “I thought I’ve seen it all with the two MVPs you’ve already won. You’re in the hunt again.”

Allen, another front-runner for MVP, showed out in front of Brady, completing 24 of 34 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns to take down the Seahawks on a rainy day in Seattle, 31-10. Allen’s performance helped the Bills get out to a 31-3 lead early in the fourth quarter against a Seahawks team that won 10 games in 2024.

In his discussion with Allen, Brady noted how Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady (no relation) had put the star quarterback in good positions while keeping him protected this season.

“I think Joe is giving me a lot of answers on offense,” Allen told Brady. “I think the system that he [has] been putting in for us, it [has] been very awesome for us. Guys are getting open. We have the term, ‘Everybody eats.’ It just feels like guys are getting open. We’re getting the ball to them [and] taking care of the football, and I think that mindset that Joe has in me — he trusts me implicitly, and I trust him as well.

“So anything that he calls, I’m just trying to go out there and run it to the best of our ability.”

Mayfield absolutely torched the league’s best defense this season in the Bucs’ Week 4 matchup, putting on a Brady-like performance. Brady’s successor in Tampa completed 30 of 47 passes for 347 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions with a 100.2 passer rating and a rushing touchdown in a 33-16 win over Philadelphia.

The three touchdowns Mayfield had in that game were just a sliver of the 44 total scores on the season, but Brady was impressed with another element of Mayfield’s game. “Great leadership by you today,” Brady said. “I love seeing you out there. … Keep putting some pressure on the guys out there. I know what you guys are capable of. Keep grinding and getting it done.”

Mayfield’s Week 4 LFG Player of the Game win was his first of the season. Brady awarded him the honor again in Week 18 when the Buccaneers got their division-clinching win over the New Orleans Saints, making Mayfield the only two-time winner of the award during the regular season.

7. Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (Week 15)

After throwing for fewer than 120 yards in two straight weeks and fewer than 200 yards in three straight games, Hurts showed off his passing ability against a Steelers defense that was viewed as one of the best in the league at the time. The Eagles star completed 25 of 32 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns to go with 45 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown and a 125.3 passer rating in the 27-13 win.

Hurts made sure to connect with his star receivers that day, with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith each recording at least 100 receiving yards, while Saquon Barkley was slowed down. Arguably the most impressive thing Hurts did was lead the Eagles on a drive that lasted the last over ten minutes to seal the win.

“What I loved was seeing you [get] the ball, find A.J. and the ball out of your hands,” Brady told Hurts. “That was the most rhythmic I’ve seen in a long time. … To me, you’re unstoppable when you’re playing like that.”

Jacobs had an exciting first season in Green Bay, with his best performance in Year 1 as a Packer coming when Brady was on the call. Jacobs got the ball often in the Packers’ key 38-10 win over the 49ers, rushing for 106 yards and three scores. All three touchdowns came from the 1-yard line, which was key for a team that entered that week 27th in red zone efficiency.

“We make a big emphasis about it,” Jacobs told Brady about scoring in the red zone. “Coming in this week, we know that that’s the thing we struggle with the most. So, you know, whenever we down there, I just tell them, ‘Man, give me the ball and we’ll figure it out.'”

“Give me the ball, I like that game plan,” Brady said with a smile.

5. San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 10)

The 49ers needed a big day from their quarterback in Week 10 against the Buccaneers. They got it, with Purdy completing 25 of 36 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns, good for a 119.3 passer rating.

Purdy’s performance came under less than ideal circumstances, as the run game struggled to get going in Christian McCaffrey’s season debut and kicker Jake Moody missed three kicks. After the Buccaneers tied the game late, Purdy completed four passes for 39 yards in the final 41 seconds to set Moody up for the game-winning field goal to give the 49ers a 23-20 victory.

“It was such a quiet 330-plus yard performance,” Brady said. “You played so great. One of the plays I loved was you felt the free rusher on the throw to Christian, where you dropped a dime over the top.”

Darnold’s first season in Minnesota didn’t end on the highest of notes, but he sealed his Pro Bowl case (and potentially Comeback Player of the Year case) in the Vikings’ 27-25 win over the Packers. He completed 33 of 43 passes for 377 yards, three touchdowns and an interception to go with a 116.1 passer rating as Minnesota was in control for much of the game.

After the win, Darnold’s Vikings teammates memorably mobbed him in the locker room, dousing him in a water bottle bath while lifting him in the air while a smiling Kevin O’Connell watched.

“You’ve provided great leadership, Sam,” Brady told Darnold. “It’s been a pleasure to cover you today. Love seeing everything that you did out there.”

Darnold also had a question for Brady to end the interview.

“What’s LFG stand for, Tom?” Darnold asked.

“It’s let’s bleeping go,” Brady replied.

“I love it,” Darnold said after noting how heavy the award was.

3. Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry vs. Dallas Cowboys (Week 3)

Henry had a memorable first regular season with the Ravens, rushing for nearly 2,000 yards on the year, but his first big game didn’t come until Week 3 when the then-winless Ravens took on the Cowboys — who passed on signing the Dallas resident over the offseason.

Henry rushed for 151 yards on 25 carries (6.04 yards per carry), owning the Cowboys’ run defense as he found the end zone twice. He also added a 23-yard reception along the way in the victory. He ran right by Dallas’ defense for his second touchdown, going for a 26-yard score that put Baltimore up, 28-6, at the time before holing on for a 28-25 victory.

“Man, I almost lost my voice watching you take that thing down the field,” Brady told Henry. “You were unbelievable. … When I’m watching you [and Jackson] back there, I don’t know who you stop. When you’re [carrying] that thing, it’s almost impossible to stop.”

Allen put up six total touchdowns against the Rams in Week 14, but it wasn’t enough, in part, because of Nacua’s outstanding performance. The star receiver made several highlight plays in the win, catching 12 passes on 14 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown. He also had five rushing attempts, going for 16 yards in a score.

There were a pair of plays Nacua made that stood out from the Rams’ 44-42 win. First, he made a toe-tapping over-the-shoulder grab on the sideline. “Literally, his hands are behind his head,” Brady said while in exasperation.

Later, Nacua took a screen pass on a third-and-5 play 19 yards for a touchdown that sealed the win for the Rams.

When Brady spoke with Nacua after the game, he wanted to figure out why he was given Puka as a nickname. “My grandma gave me that name,” Nacua said. ” It means fat, chubby, so that’s why I think on some of those run plays, Coach is like, ‘I trust him with the ball.'”

“Ah, you got some Pukas up front,” Brady replied. “You’re not Puka anymore.”

1. New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara vs. Dallas Cowboys (Week 2)

Kamara put up one of the best single-game performances of the season in the Saints’ dominating 44-19 win over the Cowboys in Week 2. The dual-threat running back made plays in both facets, rushing for 115 yards on 5.8 yards per carry and three touchdowns to go with two receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Kamara’s receiving touchdown showcased his high-end vision and speed. He took a screen pass 57 yards, noticing an open path before outrunning the Cowboys’ defense to the end zone.

“Next time I see you play, I want five touchdowns,” Brady jokingly told Kamara. “Four wasn’t good enough.”

“All right,” Kamara responded. “I got you.”
