FM: Black Sea ceasefire is another step towards establishing peace in Ukraine
Minister Szijjártó expressed his appreciation for US President Donald Trump’s peace efforts, noting that “such talks were absolutely impossible” before Trump took office.
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said more good news has emerged about US-Russian peace talks, with the two countries making progress on important points, adding that as a result, the world had taken another step towards establishing peace in Ukraine.
“Facilitating a ceasefire in the Black Sea allowing for safe shipping is yet another important advance made on the path to a full ceasefire,” the ministry quoted Minister Szijjártó as saying.
“Reconnecting Russia’s agriculture and food industry to the bloodstream of the international market could be a measure clearly demonstrating common sense,” Minister Szijjártó said, according to a statement sent to MTI.
“The only solution to the war in Ukraine is in US-Russian talks,” the minister said. “Only those talks can pave the way to peace, and we hope that Brussels will not hinder the success of those talks.”
Minister Szijjártó expressed his appreciation for US President Donald Trump’s peace efforts, noting that “such talks were absolutely impossible” before Trump took office.
“Today, however, US-Russian negotiations and direct discussions also yield the additional benefit that the risk of a wide-scale escalation of the war has been significantly reduced,” said Minister Szijjártó. “The world has become a safer place today, and we have taken another step towards peace in Ukraine.”
