Cowboys Linked to Trade for ‘Impressive’ Chiefs CB Amid Trevon Diggs Injury
The Dallas Cowboys defense has been one of the least successful units in the NFL this season, and the secondary has proven a huge part of those struggles.
Some of the issues have been injury-related, but outside of Trevon Diggs, the group of Cowboys cornerbacks has left more than a little to be desired — including during a 20-point loss last weekend to the Denver Broncos, during which they surrendered 247 passing yards and four touchdowns to second-year quarterback Bo Nix.
Dallas is publicly on the hunt for a big-time pass-rusher to replace Micah Parsons, and has reached out to the Las Vegas Raiders about Maxx Crosby and the Cincinnati Bengals regarding Trey Hendrickson — thus far to no avail. But whether they can find a legitimate pocket disruptor in the next week or not, the Cowboys must augment their struggling secondary while they still have the chance.

Seth Walder of ESPN on Wednesday suggested fourth-year veteran Joshua Williams of the Kansas City Chiefs as a potential trade target ahead of the league’s Nov. 4 deadline.
“Every Dallas cornerback aside from Trevon Diggs has allowed more than 1.1 yards per coverage snap (average) this season, per NFL Next Gen Stats. And Diggs is now on IR because of a concussion, so the Cowboys could use some reinforcements,” Walder wrote.
“Williams is in a contract year and buried on the depth chart in Kansas City. He has played only 775 regular-season coverage snaps in his career but has produced an impressive 0.9 yards per coverage snap in that span. When Diggs returns, and if Williams worked out, the team could keep both on the field with DaRon Bland in the slot.”
Williams has tallied 18 pass breakups, four tackles for loss, one interception and a sack across 58 career games.
