Toddler Complains of Stomach Ache—It’s a Different Story When She Gets Home

A mom from Virginia thought she would be heading home to nurse her daughter back to health, but the situation wasn’t as urgent as she’d thought.

Dymond Edwards, who was working from home at the time, rushed to collect her 5-year-old during her lunch break due to complaints of a stomach ache.

But Aryn Dennis, her supposed ailing toddler, seemed to make a rapid recovery once she got home.

Rather than snuggling up on the sofa or watching cartoons in an effort to get better, Aryn decided to put on an impromptu performance for her mom.

Edwards (@dyweeeez_) shared the clip on Instagram of her daughter giving her rendition of pop song “APT” using the TV remote as a makeshift microphone.

“When she got home, she kept singing to the top of her lungs,” the 30-year-old told Newsweek.

Edwards captioned the clip: “My household is not a real place! #fluseason #exhaustedmommy #workworkworkworkwork.”

Schools across the country are grappling with increased cases of flu, colds and other illnesses.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 69 percent of children missed at least one day of school in the previous year, with an average of 3.3 days missed per child.

Edwards wrote on the text overlay: “I picked my daughter up for a stomach ache and there’s no stomach ache in sight.”

The clip has gone viral since it was posted on January 17, amassing 2.8 million views. Over 8,000 Instagram users commented, with many jumping to the little girl’s defense.

“As your daughter’s attorney she won’t be answering any more questions,” one wrote.

“That SCHOOL made her sick to her stomach. She’s fine at HOME,” another laughed.

Others created reasons why little Aryn may have made swift recovery.

“Stomach ache not mouth ache. Sing princess,” @blessingstimidi commented.

“The stomach ache was the stage fright for this concert she knew she was gon be puttin on,” wrote another.

“My mama would’ve took me right back!” said another.

At the end of her “APT” remix, Aryn drops her pretend mic and walks off, leaving her mom bewildered by it all.

Edwards was right to pick her daughter up to stop the spread, but maybe she’ll be more weary the next time she gets a call from the school.
