Woody Harrelson Praises Joe Rogan

Woody Harrelson recently praised Joe Rogan during an appearance on his podcast.

On the February 22 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the former Cheers star and UFC commentator commended each other.

“I was excited to talk to you, man,” Rogan said. “I’m a big fan. God****, I’ve been watching you since Cheers, you know? It’s a long time.”

“I’m a fan of yours, too. I really am,” Harrelson replied. “I’m so—I love the things you’ve done that just flipped everything on its head, you know? The people you’ve interviewed. You’ve got people genuinely up in arms, you know? Like you’re not afraid. You’re a fearless warrior, and I just—I appreciate what you do, allowing voice to people. Other people would be like, ‘You’re wrong just to interview that person.'”

“Yeah, you get a lot of that for sure, but that’s ridiculous,” the former Fear Factor host said. “That’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous thinking. I don’t even understand that. I really don’t. I don’t understand how we got to a place where you’re wrong to have a conversation with someone, even if you disagree with them.”

Newsweek contacted Rogan’s representative via email for additional comment on Tuesday.

Rogan launched The Joe Rogan Experience in 2009, and it has since dominated the podcast charts—though it recently slipped behind The MeidasTouch Podcast, according to Podscribe data.

Per Spotify, some of Rogan’s most popular episodes include his interviews with Elon Musk, Edward Snowden, Ben Shapiro and Mike Tyson. The podcast has more than 2,200 episodes, which vary in length between one and three hours.

Harrelson, meanwhile, skyrocketed to fame on Cheers as bartender Woody Boyd. He appeared on the NBC sitcom from seasons four through 11, which aired from 1985 to 1993. He won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the role. Harrelson’s new movie, Last Breath, is scheduled for release on February 28.

“Your movie’s f****** great. I loved it,” Rogan said of the upcoming film, calling it a “nailbiter.”

He added that the drama, which is based on a true story of deep-sea divers attempting to rescue a member of their team, is “very suspenseful, very fulfilling” and that by “the end of it, you feel super entertained.”

Harrelson thanked Rogan for his review, adding: “I love it. It’s so exciting that film. It’s like an action movie. I mean, it really is like as nailbiter as any action movie I’ve seen. I love it.”

Rogan and Harrelson live in Austin, Texas, and they spoke about getting together outside the show.

“I’m determined. You and I are gonna have to hang out sometime socially,” Harrelson said, to which Rogan responded: “Let’s do it. I would love to do that. Let’s do it.”

“Yeah? Harrelson said. “OK, well, don’t feel just like you’re back against the wall.”

“No, I love you man, come on,” Rogan said. “I’ll hang out with you anytime.”

After the podcast episode was released, Rogan took to his personal Instagram account to give Harrelson a shoutout.

“It was an honor and a privilege to sit down and have a conversation with @woodyharrelson,” he wrote. “What a friendly and cool guy. I really enjoyed it.”
